Commercial Toilet Facilities

This project involved the refurbishment of ceiling areas within a commercial washroom, transforming a dated environment into a modern, uniform space. The existing ceiling in the toilet cubicle was carefully removed and replaced with new plasterboard, securely fixed and levelled to ensure a flawless base. To create continuity, the Artex ceilings in the adjoining basin area and corridor were expertly skimmed to match the new finish. High-quality materials, including Thistle MultiFinish plaster and SBR+ bonding agents, were used to achieve a smooth, durable surface. Throughout the works, care was taken to minimise dust and disruption, maintaining site cleanliness and health and safety standards, resulting in a professional and refined finish.

Our Approach

We began by carefully removing the existing ceiling within the toilet cubicle, ensuring all waste was promptly cleared from site. Once exposed, the ceiling framework was inspected before installing new plasterboard, fixed securely and checked for level to provide a sound base. In preparation for plastering, surfaces were treated with SBR+ primer and Thistle Bonding Coat where required to enhance adhesion. We then applied a smooth skim coat using Thistle MultiFinish plaster across all ceiling areas, including the newly boarded section and the existing Artex ceilings in the basin area and corridor, achieving a consistent, high-quality finish throughout. Dust control measures were in place at every stage, ensuring the space remained clean and disruption to surrounding areas was kept to a minimum.

The Result

The completed works delivered a clean, modern finish that significantly uplifted the overall look of the washroom areas. The freshly plastered ceilings provided a smooth, seamless surface, replacing the dated Artex with a contemporary, uniform appearance. The new ceiling in the toilet cubicle blended effortlessly with the adjoining areas, creating a cohesive and professional finish throughout. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome, noting the transformation had greatly improved the space’s functionality and presentation.
